1. What we collect

Vendor applicants

When you apply to become a vendor, we collect: your name, business name, business category, email address, and WhatsApp phone number. This information is used to review your application and (if approved) to power your public vendor profile.

Analytics

We collect basic, anonymised usage data — for example, how many times an "Order on WhatsApp" button is tapped on a given listing. This helps us understand which products and vendors are performing well. No personally identifiable shopper data is collected for analytics.

Reviews (future feature)

If we introduce a review system, reviewers may provide a display name and a contact method (email or phone) for verification. The contact method is kept strictly private and is never shown publicly — only the display name and review text appear on the Site.

Shoppers

Shoppers do not create accounts and we do not collect their personal information. When a shopper taps "Order on WhatsApp", they initiate a WhatsApp conversation on their own device. That conversation is governed by WhatsApp's privacy policy, not ours.

2. How we use your information

• To review and process vendor applications.
• To operate and display approved vendor profiles and product listings.
• To contact vendors about their account or listings.
• To understand overall platform usage and improve the Site.
• To investigate and act on reports of policy violations.

We do not use your information for advertising purposes and we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with third parties.

3. Ordering on WhatsApp

When you tap "Order on WhatsApp", you leave our Site and enter WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta Platforms, Inc. Your conversation with a vendor — including any personal information you share such as your name, address, or phone number — is governed by WhatsApp's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to the content of those conversations.

4. We do not sell your data

WhatsAppVendors.lk does not sell, rent, share, or disclose personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. We may share information where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. Data retention

Vendor profile and product data is retained for as long as your vendor account is active. If you close your account or are removed from the platform, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Anonymised analytics data (no personal identifiers) may be retained indefinitely for platform improvement.

6. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you by emailing us at hello@whatsappvendors.lk. We will respond within a reasonable time.
